The Ethereum price chart follows ETH/USD spot trading on Coinbase, displayed by TradingView. Its unit is US dollars for one ETH. It is a price history for a named market, not an Ethereum gas-fee chart.
Read it.
Don’t mythologize it.
An ETH/USD rise means ETH traded for more dollars on this market across the observations you compare. It says nothing by itself about ETH outperforming Bitcoin. For that question, open the separate ETH/BTC chart and keep the comparison window consistent.
Use the line for a quick overview and candles for the open, high, low and close within each bar. The provider adapts the bar interval to the selected view and labels it inside the plot. Provider chart controls can adjust the view further; check their labels after making changes.
If ETH rises 3% in USD while BTC rises 5% over the same interval, ETH has gained in dollars but lost relative ground to BTC. The ETH/BTC direction can therefore differ from ETH/USD.
This price does not describe a layer-2 token’s network, a wrapped token contract or the gas required to send your ETH. Ethereum transaction fees depend on gas use and network conditions as well as the ETH price.
Less guessing.
Better questions.
Is ETH/USD the same as an Ethereum gas chart?
No. ETH/USD prices one ETH in dollars. Gas describes the computational work and fee mechanism of a transaction. A higher ETH price can affect dollar-denominated costs without telling you how much gas a transaction consumes.
Can ETH/USD rise while ETH/BTC falls?
Yes. That can happen when both assets rise in dollars but Bitcoin rises more over the same comparison window. Use the ratio page to inspect that relative market directly.
How fresh are the values, and can I export them?
TradingView supplies the feed and its observation timestamps. The crypto chart updates automatically while connected; check the widget’s status before treating a value as current. The page does not maintain a separate copy of live quotes or offer a market-data CSV export. If the source cannot load, use the direct source link.
