A market-cap chart that admits what is inside the basket. Radical concept.

TradingView’s CRYPTOCAP:TOTAL index tracks the combined market capitalization of the top 125 cryptocurrencies in its Crypto Coins Screener. Values are US dollars of market capitalization. It is the provider’s ranked basket rather than the sum of every token in existence.
Read it.
Don’t mythologize it.
Market capitalization combines price with circulating supply estimates. Its change is not a direct count of new dollars entering or leaving crypto. Prices can revalue a large supply without a matching amount of trading or net deposits.
Basket composition is part of the method. As the rankings change, assets can enter or leave the calculation. Inspect unusual moves with that possibility in mind instead of assuming every jump is solely the result of same-asset price changes.
If a circulating supply of one million coins is valued at $10 per coin, its capitalization is $10 million. A rise to $11 revalues it to $11 million; that arithmetic alone does not establish $1 million of net purchases.
TOTAL does not measure market depth, available liquidity, a wallet’s balance or an exchange’s volume. It includes stablecoins within the defined basket. A different provider or a TOTAL index that excludes specific assets can have a different scope.
Less guessing.
Better questions.
Is TOTAL the capitalization of all cryptoassets?
Its stated scope is TradingView’s top-125 ranked basket. The title and method here keep that limit visible rather than calling it complete coverage of every token.
Can a big change come from the index constituents?
Yes. TradingView documents that additions, removals and category changes can create jumps in its aggregate indices. Check the source methodology when interpreting an unusual move.
How fresh are the values, and can I export them?
TradingView supplies the feed and its observation timestamps. The crypto chart updates automatically while connected; check the widget’s status before treating a value as current. The page does not maintain a separate copy of live quotes or offer a market-data CSV export. If the source cannot load, use the direct source link.
